I love this show. It rivals if not bests 2/26/77...so many song debuts that are so well played...Here Comes Sunshine, Eyes, etc...they nearly all sound great right out of the box, as though they had been in rotation all along. Major bonus points for one of my favorite China->Riders with a blistering Weir solo in the transition. Subtract a fraction of a point for the annoying wavy gravy gibberish before the second set though.

Hey! What about Fillmore West 8/18/70?!!? If the somewhat pedestrian (IMHO) 2/26/77 is gonna have a seat at the table, we damn sure have to make way for this night of firsts!

Truckin'
Operator
Brokedown Palace
Ripple

All in an acoustic first set!

and what about the spring of 75?

03-23 > blues 4 allah and stronger than dirt. wonder why they played bfa only 5x? it had a potential of a monster jam engine

And, yes, it is mighty fine.

Oh,yeah, and, yes, Wavy Gravy has got to be one of the most annyoing individuals to make it on tape.

Tough call between those two, but I'd vote for this http://www.archive.org/details/gd71-02-18.sbd.orf.107.sbeok.shnf because the first Wharf Rat is the meat of a Dark Star sandwich that is some of their finest ever music (the Beautiful Jam featured on So Many Roads). Other 'firsts' in this show also stand up well.

Yep, I agree J; have heard it many times over the years, and it is a damn fine WJack imitation...IMHO. I just can't hear any of the others "in" that voice myself...I usu pride myself on picking out which of them might be saying one thing or another on banter, and that means exactly squat right now, but he's my guess...

Makes sense - just sounds like the wolfman. Which always makes me think of this (don't really know why):

Thank you SDH. Each individual photo - taken at face value - seems harmless. However, when you see someone with a pattern of posting pics like this, it gets creepy. It's very apparent that he's trying to push buttons. I tend to agree with Cliff that smi2les has a psych problem.

Yep, I oftetimes wonder why I find myself less involved around these parts and then I see this stuff and am quickly reminded why. But I do apprciate all the valuable input from many of you, it does not go unnoticed.

I love the 2-26-77 show but I can only think of 2 new songs played at that one (Terp and Estimated) so while it is one of my favorite shows for the H>S>F and the Eyes>Dancin' I don't think as a debut show it compares with 2-9-73 or 2-18-71. That said, my personal favorite debut show is this one:

http://www.archive.org/details/gd71-10-19.orefm.clugston.3301.sbeok.shnf

Ten Jed
Jack Straw
Brown Eyed Women
Mexicali Blues
Comes A Time
One More Saturday Night
Ramble On Rose
and some guy named Keith Godchaux on the piano.
